Hi, I’m Becca. I’ve always enjoyed cooking. “Advanced Foods and Nutrition” was one of my favorite classes in high school. I cooked dinner for my prom date served it on my mom’s china. But somewhere between child #1 and child #5, cooking became more about survival than enjoyment. I was cooking for little people. I didn’t want to put forth any effort when the result was no better than Burger King. It wasn’t worth the clean up. Several years ago I embarked on a “relearning to cook” journey. I stopped cooking for my kids. They could eat what I fixed or be hungry. No more fish sticks and frozen pizza. Over the course of a year, I tried all the boxed meal kits with Home Chef being the most helpful. It was also the year I became a full time teacher after being part time since having kids. Having the boxes waiting on my doorstep meant I didn’t have to meal plan and I had to fix dinner. No backing out! Once I felt I could prepare the meals without the recipes, I stopped the boxes and did Walmart pick up. If you’ve tried neither- I highly recommend both! I use the walmart grocery app as my "list." As soon as I think of it- it goes on my list. My family all have it downloaded on their phones so they can add stuff too. No more getting upset with mom for forgetting something when it's their own responsibilitys! I can just check over my cart and remove what I don't want to get them.

Try it for yourself:

Friends encouraged me to post cooking videos but that doesn't work too well for this loud household. So, a hashtag is all I have to offer. You can follow #cookingwithbeccap on facebook or instagram and hopefully you too will be inspired to cook food YOU love!
